RAY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — State police say a 19-year-old Paul Smiths College student from Vermont has died after a two-car accident on a highway in the Adirondacks.

Troopers say George Deets IV of East Dorset, Vt., lost control of his 2002 Saturn sedan on Route 86 in Ray Brook shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday and slid into an oncoming 2010 Honda CRV driven by 57-year-old Allen Daunais of Saranac Lake.

Deets was pronounced dead at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Daunais was treated for minor injuries and released. His passenger, 55-year-old Theresa Daunais, was admitted with multiple fractures.

Franklin County Coroner Ronald Keough has ordered an autopsy for Deets to determine the cause of death.
