Whitey Bulger's lawyers want judge removed

(NECN) - Attorneys for James "Whitey" Bulger planned to argue for the removal of the judge assigned to Bulger's murder trial.

Bulger's attorneys say U.S. District Judge Richard Stearns has a conflict of interest because he was a federal prosecutor in the 1980s, when Bulger was an FBI informant.

Tuesday's hearing was set before the first U.S. circuit court of appeals.
