Standish, Maine Man Dies in Motor Vehicle Crash

One person is dead and another critically injured in a crash in Standish.

Police say 84-year-old Arthur Ames of Standish was pulling out of an intersection Saturday night when he drove into the path of another vehicle.

Ames' vehicle was hit in the front driver's side door area.

He and his wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle, were taken to Maine Medical Center where Arthur Ames died from his injuries. Police said that his wife remained in critical condition on Sunday morning.

Authorities say it does not appear that speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
