Bridgwater, Mass. man accused of assaulting state trooper

(NECN: Justin Michaels, Avon, Mass.) - A Bridgwwater, Mass. man is facing several charges Thursday, after allegedly trying to ram two state trooper's cruisers.

The incident happened late Wednesday night in Avon.

Sources close to the investigation say the suspect - Gene Guilbeault, 48 - is a former Avon police officer.

According to Massachusetts State Police, the suspect has a history of mental health issues.

He was unarmed at the scene at the Dunkin' Donuts in Avon Massachusetts.
