Dunkin' Donuts Adding New Menu Items in 2018

Dunkin' Donuts is planning to introduce several new menu innovations this year, according to CNBC.

The Canton, Massachusetts-based company released its plan for growth at an event in Boston on Thursday.

Dunkin' has reduced its menu offerings by 10 percent in the past year, getting rid of Coffee Coolattas, strawberry banana smoothies, steak and egg breakfast sandwiches and other items.

But in 2018, the doughnut chain said it is planning to introduce more bacon sandwiches like the Sweet Black Pepper Bacon Breakfast Sandwich, one of them with bacon inside of sausage.

Other new items coming this year include Brown Sugar Cold Brew, deluxe, creme-filled Munchkins, French vanilla cappuccinos and frozen and iced lemonades.

"We are putting out a new range of snacking options, increasing our beverage mix," Dunkin' Chairman and CEO Nigel Travis told CNBC this week. "Cold brew has done really well, (and) we continue to have great flavors for our iced coffee. I think our products will be different in the morning; we'll do things like change the menu boards after 11 a.m. to make the afternoon experience different."

This year will also see the launch of 275 new Dunkin' stores, including an expanded roll-out of the new store design now being tested in Boston and Quincy. The modern makeover for the 68-year-old brand features a sleek interior, with cold beverages on tap and drive thru lanes dedicated to online orders.

The company plans to open 1,000 new locations by the end of 2020. Ninety percent of those will new stores will be outside of the Northeast.
