(NECN) - The 2013 Boston Wine Expo is around the corner, and "The Morning Show" got an early taste of the vibrant bottles to be featured at the big event.

Jim Carmody, General Manager of the Seaport Hotel, stopped by "The Morning Show" with some wine to offer Steve an abbreviated tasting.

The Boston Wine Expo - entering its 22nd year - was founded in 1991 by the Boston Guild of Oenophilists. It has grown into one of the most well-known and respected wine events in the country.

"Over $1,300,000 has been donated to local charities by the Guild including Tufts Medical Center's Summer Camp Program for Children With Disabilities - the major beneficiary. Over 27 local charities have benefited from the Expo over the event's history. Other organizations that have received considerable funding include the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, Dana Farber Cancer Institute's Pan Mass Challenge and the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. "

Highlights of the upcoming 2013 Boston Wine Expo:

"Consumers can learn from some of the city's favorite chefs on two demonstration stages as they entertain, share recipes and create samples of their favorite dishes. Nationally-renowned chefs Ming Tsai and Barbara Lynch will join over 15 chefs in the celebrity chef demo series, while keynote speakers and wine power-couple Jean-Charles Boisset and Gina Gallo of Gallo Family Wines will lead the "Two Distinct Wineries, One Family" seminar offering a taste of their favorite and most expensive wines. Additional appearances include QVC program host, David Venable; Top Chef Finalist, Tiffani Faison; Wine Spectator Director of Education, Gloria Maroti Frazee; The Urban Grape's, TJ Douglas and many more. The Grand Tasting features over 200 wineries representing 15 countries from around the globe. The event also boasts 70+ lifestyle exhibits and over 20 restaurants."

There's an app for that

"For the first time in Expo history, attendees can track, rate and buy wines they discover at the Expo directly from their iPhone for home delivery. The Boston Wine Expo has partnered with a company called DRYNC Direct to offer this service.  Free shipping will be provided on all orders during Wine Expo weekend."

There will also be a Social Media Lounge at this year's Expo.

"Located in the center of the Grand Tasting, the Lounge provides a fun spot to view which wines attendees "like best" via the mobile app. Live Twitter posts will also be displayed on large screens so that guests can see which wines are the most 'buzzed about'."

Upgraded VIP Ticket:

"Attendees have the opportunity to purchase an upgraded ticket which offers a special entrance to the show plus a high-end tasting glass to sample their favorite vintages at the Expo."
