Man Struck, Killed by Car After Picking Up Pizza

A 68-year-old Meriden man was struck and killed by a car while picking up pizza in Meriden on Tuesday night, police said.

Jack Coursey. 68, of Meriden, was crossing East Main Street in Meriden around 6 p.m. on Tuesday after buying pizza from Uptown Pizza when a 1997 Honda Accord hit him, police said. 

Coursey was transported to Hartford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver suffered facial wounds when the windshield of his car broke and he was taken to Midstate Hospital.
