(NECN: The Boss) - David Hartstein was born in Israel, the son of Holocaust survivors.  As a young man he was a tank commander in the Israeli Defense forces.

In 1982, he moved to the US and worked as an Israeli consulate in Boston, he was just 26 years old. In 1986 he married Lisa Saunders.

Today, David and Lisa have two daughters.  In the early 1980's David went to Suffolk University in Boston, but he returned to Israel when his father died.  It was his mother who insisted he go back to the United States and finish his education.

In 1986 David would go on to earn a bachelor's degree and MBA from Suffolk University in just four years, while also working full time.

In 1993, he moved back to Israel where he became the co-founder at Super Office, the first office super store in Israel.  He moved back to the states in 1997 and was looking to get into the retail business.

Then, in 1998, David founded KaBloom.
