Inside The Fighter's legendary Lowell boxing gym

(NECN: Tom Langford) - The Oscars are this weekend, and one of the films up for awards is The Fighter.
    
It's based on Lowell boxing legend, "Irish" Mickey Ward.

Our Tom Langford talked to Art Ramalho, the real-life owner of the city's West End Gym, where a good chunk of the movie was shot. He said since the film premiered, "a lot of young kids are starting to come down."

"It was wonderful to meet all the actors," said Ramalho. "They were down to earth people, and it meant a lot to the city of Lowell I think, too."
