(NECN: Leslie Gaydos) - Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey is set to speak about heroin abuse in the Bay State.
Markey will travel to Taunton Monday to talk about the recent spike in heroin overdoses.
Markey is expected to call for more resources for treatment and expanded use of naloxone to help first responders save lives.

Since January, there have been 64 overdoses in Taunton and five deaths from heroin.

Residents recently held a forum for ways to help combat the problem.

Authorities say the drug is easily accessible as it is cheap and less expensive than prescription drugs.
