Anne Hathaway Bares Her Baby Bump in Bikini, Acknowledges Pregnancy for 1st Time on Instagram

Anne Hathaway is feeling empowered.

The Oscar-winning actress was celebrating the New Year while on vacation with her husband, Adam Shulman, when she noticed the paparazzi were trying to snap pictures of her new curves. Rather than get angry, Hathaway, 33, decided to take matters into her own hands by sharing the first photo of her bikini-clad baby bump with her 1.8 million Instagram followers on Sunday. It also marked the first time the star has publicly acknowledged her pregnancy via social media.

For her photo, Hathaway placed both hands on her stomach and smiled for the camera. "Happy 2016 to my beautiful Instafriends!" The Intern star wrote in the caption. "So, posting a bikini pic is a little out of character for me, but just now while I was at the beach I noticed I was being photographed. I figure if this kind of photo is going to be out in the world it should at least be an image that makes me happy (and be one that was taken with my consent. And with a filter)."

"Wishing you love, light and blessings for the year ahead! Annie."

E! News exclusively confirmed in late November that Hathaway and Shulman are expecting their first child together later this year. The actress has long wanted to be a mother, and in January 2014, she told E! News she was "looking forward to" having children with Shulman.

Last month, an insider said Hathaway "can't wait to be a mom."

Shulman, too, is looking forward to becoming a father. "Adam is such a good husband to her," an insider said of the "Les Misrables actress." "He is very loving and helps if she needs anything."

Luckily, Hathaway is "not stressing" about gaining weight. "Anne is feeling really healthy. She is working out and trying to stay in shape during this pregnancy," a source told E! News. "Her energy levels are high. She loves knowing that a baby is inside her and this pregnancy is so exciting."
