(NECN) - A school in Sterling, Conn. is beefing up security after a 5-year-old child was picked up by the wrong person
It happened Friday afternoon at Sterling Community School.
An elderly man who was supposed to pick up his great-grandson accidentally picked up the wrong child, but he didn't realize it until he got all the way home.
School officials are taking action. Superintendent Rena Klebart says the grandfather followed policy when he showed identification and signed out the correct student.
However, the staff was supposed to watch him get the right child.
