MA police investigate homicide in Fall River

(NECN: Fall River, MA) - The Bristol County District Attorney's Office has confirmed to NECN that they are currently investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday morning.
Fall River Police, Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to this office, and prosecutors from the Bristol County District Attorney's Office are currently engaged in an active investigation into a homicide, which occurred around 2:30 early this morning on Charles Street in the Sunset Hill section of Fall River.
25 year old Jonathan Nieves, was killed outside on Charles Street in between Bay and Bowen Streets as a result of gunfire.
He was pronounced dead after being driven by a friend to St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River. 

A second man was also shot during the incident was also driven to St. Anne's Hospital by the same friend.  

The second man, who is not being publicly identified at this time, is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Rhode Island Hospital after being transfered to that facility this morning.  

The second man is 23-years-old.

No other injuries were reported during the incident.
As the investigation into the homicide remains active and ongoing, no further details can be released today.
