Cherry Blossom Festival underway in Boston

(NECN) - The Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival is underway in Boston.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the gift of the cherry blossom trees from Japan to the United States. A series of event celebrating the centennial are being held across the country to encourage and deepen a mutual friendship between the countries.

The next two months will see over 40 events.

NECN's Steve Aveson took part in the celebration.
