(NECN: Rome) - Pope Francis offered new insight on Saturday into the moments after he was elected to his new office.
At the Vatican, the pope met with with thousands of members of the media from dozens of countries.
As the votes started coming in earlier this week, Francis, the former Cardinal from Buenos Aires, Argentina, said his friend, Brazilian Cardinal Claudio Hummes, offered some encouraging words and reminded the new pope not to forget about the poor.
Pope Francis is also expected to travel to Castle Gandolfo and meet his predecessor, Benedict, the pope emeritus, in the coming days.

The formal installation of Pope Francis is Tuesday in Rome.
