WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — The list of candidates to become the next president of Worcester State University has been whittled to four.

Trustees on Wednesday announced that the finalists are Mark Bilotta, chief executive officer of the Colleges of the Worcester Consortium Inc.; Stanley Battle, interim president of Southern Connecticut State University; James Conneely, associate provost and vice president for student affairs at Eastern Kentucky University; and Barry Maloney, vice president of student affairs at Westfield State University.

Trustees hope to interview the candidates over the next two weeks and make a decision at their April 4 meeting.

The central Massachusetts school with about 5,500 students is searching for a replacement for Janelle Ashley, who is stepping down at the end of the academic year after 13 years on the job.
