(NECN: South Boston, Mass.) - Happy St. Patrick's Day!

There are politicians galore in South Boston, Massachusetts on this St. Patrick's Day -- for the annual St. Patrick's Day Breakfast.

The gathering is traditionally an excuse for the state's top politicians to trade bad jokes and test their vocal skills with Irish songs.

There is a new host for this year's event -- South Boston City Councilor Bill Linehan. He takes over for State Senator Jack Hart, who resigned from Beacon Hill.

In this clip, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick delivers a video greeting for the St. Patrick's Day Breakfast, and jokes around saying he's still confident the Patriots have a shot at the Stanley Cup, even with the loss of Wes Welker.
