Leukemia Patient, 5, Proposes to Rady Nurse

A little boy named Gideon Robinson melted the hearts of thousands on the Internet when he proposed to his nurse at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

Five-year-old Gideon receives treatments for acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the hospital after being diagnosed with cancer last August, according to his GoFundMe page.

He has a special place in his heart for one of the nurses, whom he calls “Tall Sarah” (whose actual name is Sarah Richards), so he came up with a plan to propose last week.

Wearing a Batman hat, Gideon got down on one knee and popped the question, as seen in video posted to his Facebook page.

“Of course you can be my hospital husband,” the nurse said.

Now, Gideon’s engagement is garnering attention around the world. The Daily Mail, Buzzfeed and Headline News have all picked up the story.

Gideon’s parents said on his GoFundMe page that his prognosis is positive.

“…With the help of Rady Children's Hospital San Diego and further research we learned that with his age, and that we caught it so soon, there is a 90% chance to cure him in the next 3 1/2 years,” they wrote on the page.
