(NECN) -- A new survey by the MBTA rider oversight committee shows huge support for the return of late-night service.

The Twitter and Facebook poll had nearly 26,000 people weighing in and almost all were in favor of later hours. Currently, the “T” stops running at 1 a.m.

People said they would be willing to wait longer and pay more for late-night service.

It was canceled in 2005 because of budget constraints.
