(NECN) - For the first time, the candidates for U.S. Senate are in one location for a provocative conversation about the issues. This special election became possible when John Kerry vacated his long-held seat to become the nation's top diplomat. The Republican candidates are businessman Gabriel Gomez, former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan and State Rep. Dan Winslow.
Moderator RD Sahl asked the candidates to share their stance on abortion. Do they agree with their own party's position on the issue?
Sullivan said he is pro-life and has been his entire life. Winslow says he is pro-choice and supports a woman's right to choose. Gomez says he is a Catholic and is also pro-life, but that doesn't mean he is interested in going to Washington to change the law.
