(NECN/AP: John Moroney) - A teenager is being held on $50,000 cash bail. She’s charged with trying to murder a Boston mother as she pushed her baby in a stroller later Monday afternoon.

Police say the woman was stabbed several times at about 4 p.m. Monday while walking down a street in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood. She collapsed outside an ice cream shop where customers rushed to help her.

Shop owner Joe Conway says the victim appeared to have stab wounds to her chest, back and leg. The baby, about a year old, was unhurt.

Seventeen-year-old Samia Jones was arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Tuesday. Prosecutors say Jones attacked the mother as the two of them were walking in Dorchester.

The victim has been identified and is in stable condition. She apparently was called to the neighborhood by the father of her child, who is also the father of one of Jones’ children, according to prosecutors.

Jones is expected back in court later in April.
