(NECN) - The Boston Police Department put the director of its Hackney unit on paid administrative leave Friday.

Officials say Mark Cohen is the subject of an internal complaint.

Boston police say the allegations bring into question the management of the unit that oversees and regulates taxi companies in the city.

The actions come after a Boston Globe report in the last few weeks.

Their investigation found cab drivers being taken advantage of and struggling to make a living.

Cohen will remain on leave until a full review of the Hackney unit is completed.
