A Real “Gem”: Meteor Shower Set to Light Up Sky

Arguably the best meteor display of the year, the annual Geminid meteor shower is set to flash across night sky on Saturday and Sunday. The Geminids, known for brilliantly streaking meteors spawned by the distant asteroid Phaethon, could spawn as many as 120 observable meteors per hour late Sunday night. No need for binoculars or a telescope — a trusty lawn chair is all stargazers need for a good look at the celestial show.
