Brockton Man Charged With Manslaughter

A Brockton man turned himself into police Sunday night and is now facing a manslaughter charge.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz announced the arrest of Robert Curtis of Brockton in connection with the death of Ralph Lawcewicz on Dec. 26.

On that day, Brockton police and emergency medical personnel responded to an incident on Upton Street. Officials say that they found Lawcewicz unresponsive inside the home. He was pronounced dead after he was taken to Brockton Hospital by paramedics.

Following an investigation into the incident, a witness told police that there was an altercation between the victim and the suspect.

Curtis turned himself into Brockton police without incident. He will be arraigned Tuesday on the manslaughter charge in Brockton District Court. It's unclear if he has an attorney.

The investigation into what exactly caused the altercation is still ongoing.
