(NECN) - One of the great highlights of Patriots' Day in Massachusetts is the tradition of the re-enactment of the Battle of Lexington.

On Monday morning, re-enactors gathered at Lexington Green.

They were commemorating the 238th anniversary of the first battles of the Revolutionary War. The battle took place on April 19, 1775 between the Minutemen and the British Red Coats.

Concord was also the scene of a battle that day.

This holiday is also observed in Maine and Wisconsin.
