Drinking Causes 1 in 10 Deaths of Working-Age Adults: CDC

One in 10 deaths in working-age adults may be caused by excessive alcohol consumption, according to a new study released Tuesday by the CDC. That means about 88,000 people die a year from the effects of binge drinking, according to researchers, who looked at the period between 2006 and 2010. Aside from health risks, such as breast cancer and liver disease, the type of deaths most associated with binge drinking are motor vehicle crashes, homicides and falls, respectively.
