(NECN: Justin Michaels, Boston) – Tuesday marks just 15 days since the Boston Marathon bombings; the memorial here keeps growing and the pieces of this puzzle are starting to fit together.

The White House says Russia and the United States continue to share intelligence in the Boston Marathon bombing case.

"We have a cooperative relationship with our Russian counterparts when it comes to counter terrorism," said White House spokesman Jay Carney.

In the meantime, the FBI went to the home of Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s in-laws in North Kingstown, R.I. They took away bags of items, most likely to match DNA found on those items to the DNA taken by Katherine Russell, Tamerlan’s widow, and female DNA found on a piece of the pressure cooker used to make one of the marathon bombs. That DNA could have come from any number of places; it does not mean Russell is involved in the bombings in any way.

The feds are also looking into Tamerlan’s interaction with two men considered to be radical Muslims during his trip to Dagestan in 2012. Those two men were killed by Russian operatives last year. The FBI has apparently also talked to a man in West Warwick, R.I., nick named “Misha,” who some family members have accused of brain washing Tamerlan.

And the question of life in prison or death for surviving marathon bomber Dzhokhar is now starting to pick up steam. Prosecutors and defense lawyers are beginning to talk about a possible deal involving an exchange of information to avoid the death penalty. And a new defense lawyer has entered the picture, Judy Clarke. She’s a woman known for her ability to help her clients avoid the death penalty. Some of her previous clients: Unabomber Ted Kaczynski and Jared Laughner who shot and nearly killed Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords.

A cause of death has not yet been released by the medical examiner for Tamerlan. They say his body is still unclaimed so that information will stay private until his remains are released and an official death certificate is filed.
