Snapped Clamp Blamed in Circus Acrobats' Fall

A snapped carabiner is being blamed for an accident that saw eight acrobats plummet to the ground during a hair-hanging circus stunt Sunday in Providence, Rhode Island. Providence Fire Chief Clarence Cunha said their injuries included broken bones, "quite a few head injuries" and internal injuries, he said. Fire officials said that circus officials told them equipment was visually inspected prior to the performance as part of their regular routine, New England Cable News reported.
