Maine man arrested for beating up infant twins

A Sanford, Maine man was arrested Tuesday for aggravated assault.

Anthony Carpinelli, 21, is suspected to have assaulted his two infant twins.

The infants were taken Southern Maine Health Care Emergency Department with serious injuries due to inflicted head trauma on May 2.

One infant was treated for serious injuries, the other had critical injuries.

Investigators determined that Carpinelli was the caretaker of the twins when the injuries were sustained. Police say they were intentionally inflicted injuries.

Carpinelli was transported to the York County Jail where he is being held without bail.
