Hero Mom: “Either We Were Going to Die or I Had to Jump”

A 24-year-old mother was hospitalized with a broken back after she jumped from the second floor of her apartment complex with her young son in order to save him from a fire that engulfed her unit. “I knew that either we were going to die or I had to jump,” Christina Simoes said. Simoes and her 18-month-old son Cameron were trapped on the second floor when a fire tore through several units at the Forest Acres apartment complex Wednesday in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
