NH woman killed after being hit by car

SALEM, N.H. (AP) — Police in Salem, N.H., say a 44-year-old woman has died after being struck by a pickup truck on Main Street.

Police were called to the scene early Sunday by the driver of the truck. The woman was struck was unconscious at the scene and was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where she was evaluated. She was later flown by helicopter to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston with serious internal injuries. The victim died there of her injuries.

The 19-year-old driver of the pickup stopped at the scene and provided medical aid to the victim until emergency medical personnel arrived.

The accident is in its preliminary stages, but authorities say it does not appear as if speed, alcohol or drugs were a factor in the cause. No names have been released.
