A 65-year-old former teacher in Connecticut has been sentenced to five years in prison for possessing and distributing child pornography.

Richard Doyle, who was a teacher at a private school at the time, was arrested in December 2012. He admitted that he had been viewing child pornography since the 1970s and had used file sharing programs to trade images. According to Doyle, he had images of boys as young as five years old.

Doyle pleaded guilty to one count of receipt and distribution.

Officials seized more than 4,000 images and around six video files from Doyle.
