(NECN: Alison King, Charleston, S.C.) - Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick has been drawing huge crowds as he campaigns for the re-election of President Obama.

While Patrick is coy about a possible run for president in 2016 himself, he has been making plenty of speeches in praise of his friend, the President.

"It is time for Democrats to grow a backbone and stand up for we believe," Patrick said in one speech over the weekend.

This report is the first of two parts on the governor's trip to the south.
