“Hurt Beyond Reasoning”: Protests Continue Over Garner Decision

Protesters outraged over a grand jury's decision not to indict a white police officer in Eric Garner's death took to the streets again Friday, with marchers shutting down a highway in Miami, demonstrations in New York and Chicago, and a march of more than 1,000 people in the Boston area. Hundreds of Philadelphia high school students walked out of class Friday evening, and protesters shut down streets in Washington, D.C. Demonstrators in San Francisco blocked mass transit during a third night of protests, while protesters marching in Oakland shut down lanes on Interstate 880. In Los Angeles, demonstrators took to the streets to protest the killing of an unarmed black man by LAPD officers. "We are upset and hurt beyond reasoning right now," said Stephenetta Harmon, one of about 40 protesters who gathered in the rain near Wall Street in New York City on Friday.
