(NECN) - Defense attorneys for George Zimmerman are hoping to use new, potentially damaging evidence against Trayvon Martin, in his upcoming murder trial.
Martin was shot and killed by Zimmerman in February 2012.
Zimmerman says he shot the teen in self-defense.
That evidence includes text message discussions from Martin, appearing to mention drug use, photos of marijuana and martin blowing smoke, and a picture of a firearm.
An attorney for the Martin family called the evidence irrelevant.
