Prostitution Charges Against Former Innkeepers Dropped

Authorities alleged in 2012 the couple ran a prostitution business at the Inn at Laurel Lake in Lee

Prosecutors have dismissed prostitution charges against the former owners of a Berkshire County bed and breakfast in Massachusetts, a case that led to charges against a local police chief.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that charges were dismissed last month under terms of a deal with prosecutors that stipulated that charges against Tara Viola and Thomas Fusco would be dropped if they stayed out of further legal trouble.

Authorities alleged in 2012 the couple ran a prostitution business at the Inn at Laurel Lake in Lee.

The 130-year-old inn has been sold and the name changed.

Former Lee Police Chief Joseph Buffis was convicted last summer of extorting a $4,000 contribution to a police-run holiday toy fund from the couple in exchange for helping them get the charges dismissed.
