(NECN) - A recent tweet involving Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has set off a firestorm of backlash over racial slurs and mainstream media.

Singer/songwriter The Drean reportedly snapped and tweeted a photo of Paltrow dancing on-stage during a recent Jay-Z and Kanye West performance, with a caption that referenced the title of the song. The title of the song includes a racial slur.

The tweet sparked public outrage between fans and bloggers nationwide.

Paltrow responded to the backlash by tweeting: "Hold up. It's the title of the song."

Mark Simos, Assistant Professor of Songwriting at Berklee College of Music, joined "The Morning Show" to discuss the recent hot-button topic, and the use of racial slurs in mainstream pop music.
