Deadly shooting in Mattapan, Mass.

(NECN) - One man is dead and police are searching for a killer after shots rang out in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston on Saturday.

Police said the shooting occurred just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Hillsborough Rd. and Wellington Hill St.

Officials say they responded to the shots, and found a male victim between 30 and 40 years old. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and police are not released any further information about his identity.

After talking to witnesses and neighbors, police say that two vehicles were exchanging gunfire before the victim crashed his car and the other car sped off.

Investigators are looking for the other vehicle involved in the shooting. They described it as a "light green RAV type vehicle with partial Massachusetts [license] plate 875."

Authorities have asked that anyone with information come forward to help the investigation.
