(NECN: Brendan Monahan, Providence, R.I.) - A shooting in Providence, Rhode Island left four victims, including a 12-year-old girl who was killed.

Police said they responded to a shooting at 256 Harvard Avenue around midnight on Saturday.

They said they found four people shot upon arriving on the scene, and that the 12-year-old was transported to Hasbro Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Witnesses said the scene was chaotic and that the four people had stepped away from a 17th birthday party in a nearby house. Neighbors say the family that was hosting the party doesn't have any enemies and are good people.

Authorities will not release the ages, genders, or conditions of the remaining three victims.

Investigators said it appeared that the shooter came up to the group and started firing, but that any connection between the suspect and the victims is unknown.
