Hurricane Gonzalo tore through Bermuda Friday overnight, causing possibly millions of dollars in damage and knocking out power to around 85 percent of the island. Gonzalo, a Category 2 storm, slammed the island with 110 mph winds, and then quickly moved away early Saturday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center. Damage from Gonazalo - the strongest Atlantic Hurricane since Igor in 2010 - was believed to be widespread but authorities were waiting for daylight to assess the full extent of it, a spokeswoman from Bermuda's Emergency Measures Organization told Reuters. Bermuda's electric company said Saturday morning that approximately 26,775 customers — roughly 40% of the population — were without power.
