(NECN: Ally Donnelly) - Many questions remain unanswered about a death investigation in North Attleboro, Mass. and its possible connection to New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

Here's what we know: a man's body was found in an industrial park on Monday afternoon. A family friend tells us the man is Odin Lloyd, a member of the Boston Bandits football team.

The industrial park where the body was found is less than a mile from Aaron Hernandez's North Attleboro home, but police are not saying how this all ties together.

Around 8 Wednesday morning, two Massachusetts State Police troopers knocked on the door of the New England Patriots tight end. No one came to the door at the sprawling home on Ronald C Meyer Drive in North Attleboro. We believe this is because 23-year-old Hernandez had already left the home and the media surrounding it behind.

Though his connection is unclear, Hernandez is being linked to a death investigation. SI.com, citing an unnamed source, reports that the popular player was interviewed by detectives in connection to a body found nearby Onondsy. Family and friends tell us the victim was 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, a semi professional football player with the Boston Bandits, who lived in Dorchester. His body was in a grassy clearing next to an industrial park about a mile from Hernandez' home.

We don't know if Hernandez is considered a suspect in his death or if he is cooperating with police.

In a sign of an active investigation, troopers from the state's Special Emergency Response Team have fanned out across the mile swath between Hernandez'  home and the spot where Lloyd's body was found.

They searched the woods off busy Landry Avenue and the woods and gardens of Hernandez' neighbors. These neighbors are stunned by the developments.

There’s been no comment so far from the DA.
