Aaron Hernandez Briefly Transported to Hospital

Former Patriots TE charged in 3 murders was sent to St. Luke's Hospital for about an hour before being returned to jail

Aaron Hernandez was briefly hospitalized Saturday.

The former Patriots tight end, who is charged in three murders, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for about an hour, confirms Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson.

Hernandez was returned to Bristol County House of Correction after the incident.

Hodgson said that the inmate was taken to the hospital for medical purposes. Hodgson added that the incident, which he called a routine situation common in the facility, did not involve a physical altercation.

Friday, Hernandez's defense requested a transfer out of Bristol County House of Correction and into another jail, claiming that the former football player had been "relentlessly exploited by the sheriff for self-promotion and virtually non-stop publicity."

That action also claimed that Hernandez's privacy rights had been violated at Hodgson's jail.

Hernandez pleaded not guilty last year to the murder of Odin Lloyd. In May, he pleaded not guilty to the 2012 murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.
