(NECN) - A woman is in the hospital with serious injuries after being thrown from a moving vehicle on Route 495 in Merrimac, Mass.

State police have two suspects in custody in connection with the bizarre incident.

The woman was transported to Anna Jacques Hospital after several calls came in to police.

One of the eyewitnesses was an off-duty cop who provided troopers with the make and model of the vehicle in question.

Police later arrested the driver and his passenger.
