MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy and Rep. Peter Welch are on a five-day trip to Cuba, Haiti and Colombia to meet with government officials and inspect recovery efforts after the 2010 earthquake.

The four senators and two House members left Washington on Wednesday for Cuba, where they plan to meet with government officials and religious and civil society leaders.

In Haiti, the delegation will visit U.S.-supported relief projects and meet with government officials, humanitarian aid workers and U.S. embassy officers. They also will deliver supplies of clothes and toiletries to a woman's shelter that were donated by the mother of Vermonter Flo McGarrell, who died in the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
