(NECN/AP) - Police arrested Patriots Tight End Aaron Hernandez Wednesday morning, taking him from his North Attleboro, Mass. home in handcuffs.

The arrest comes more than a week after a Boston semi-pro football player, Odin Lloyd, was found dead in an industrial park a mile from Hernandez's house. Lloyd's death was ruled a homicide.

He was booked at the North Attleboro Police Station.

Hernandez was transported from the police station to Attleboro District Court. He was arraigned at the court house.

Hernandez was charged with murder and other weapons counts.

The New England Patriots say they've released tight end Aaron Hernandez "following his arrest in the investigation of a homicide" in nearby North Attleboro. The move came a few hours after Hernandez was taken from his home in handcuffs.
