Update 6/30/2013: Newton police confirm 16-year-old Ana Lopez has been found safe in Boston.

(NECN: Kathryn Sotnik, Newton, Mass.) - Police in Newton, Mass. are searching for 16-year-old Ana Lopez, who has been missing since Tuesday.

The search continues near Hammond Pond, where Massachusetts State Police scuba dive teams will be brought in.

Lopez is described as a Hispanic girl, about 5'2 and 150 pounds. She has brown hair with blonde and red highlights. She has two piercings on her lower lip and is known, according to police, to frequent Harvard Square, Boston Common and Salem, Mass.

Massachusetts State Police, Newton Police and Newton Fire have been searching in and around Hammond Pond. Helicopters and boats were a part of the search.

Lopez was last heard from at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, when her cell phone was pinged in the area by the pond. According to police, she had an argument with a family member and told her mother she was leaving the house.

"Our concern is, she's 16 years old, she hasn't been in contact with any of her family or friends," said Lt. Bruce Apotheker of Newton Police Department. "We're asking the public's help in searching for Ana."

Ana's mother did not want to appear on camera, but she had a message for her daughter, saying that she wants her to come back, she's worried about her, and she loves her.

Please contact Newton Police at (617) 796-2100 or (617) 796-2104 with any information.
