Officials Warn of Riptides

Hurricane Arthur will have an impact on shore of Maine, New England

Even with all the clouds, there is a decent-sized crowd on Old Orchard Beach on the Fourth of July.

Saturday, the sun will be out, but officials are warning beachgoers about the impact Hurricane Arthur will have on the shore.

The National Weather Service issued an advisory for Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., saying that strong rip currents and large, dangerous surf will make the surf hazardous.

There will be extra life guards on duty Saturday.

Many of the guards are new and have not even done a rescue yet, so they have modified their training this week to try to get them ready.
