WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The University of Hartford has named a South Carolina educator as the new dean of its business school.

The Connecticut university announced Wednesday that Martin S. Roth, chairman of the Sonoco International Business Department in the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, takes his new job at the Barney School of Business on Aug. 19.

The University of Hartford says Roth, a professor of international business, has expertise in global corporate and marketing strategy.

He said the Barney School will engage corporations, conduct research and develop programs for students, alumni and business partners.

Roth succeeds James Fairfield-Sonn, who stepped down on June 30 after nine years. Following a leave in the fall, Fairfield-Sonn will return as a member of the Barney School faculty.
