Broadside: Coakley's Comments Draw Negative Attention

Controversial comments made by Martha Coakley on potentially becoming governor of Massachusetts are discussed

President Obama recently found time to stop at a barbecue joint featuring the coolest check-out guy and arguably the best ribs in Austin, Texas.

Former Massachusetts Republican Party Chair Jennifer Nassour and Democratic political analyst Sheila Capone would never think of making President Obama vouch for his Visa Card.

Nassour and Capone joined Jim Braude on Broadside to discuss the best and the worst of the week that was in regards to politics.

Governor hopeful Martha Coakley told the Lowell Sun, "I don't think under Governor Coakley you would have an Annie Dookhan. Current Governor Deval Patrick took exception to the statement and responded, bringing negative attention to Coakley.

"The way that it played out was unfortunate. I think she was trying to show that she is and will be a good manager. It was unfortunate that she made the comparison to the current governor," said Nassour.

Nassour does not think Coakley's comments will hurt her, despite being slapped around with words by Patrick.

"I think that Martha Coakley is the queen of stumbles," said Capone.

The two also debated Charlie Baker's statements from earlier in the week. Baker said the Hobby Lobby case "doesn't matter." He later apologized and rephrased his comments.

Capone applauded Baker for standing up to what he said, acknowledging his mistake and apologizing.

"Charlie made a mistake. I know that Charlie supports a women's right to choose," said Capone.
