(NECN: Julie Loncich, Boston) - Mass. State Police confirm a car accident on Route 24 outside of Avon, Mass. killed a girl and sent two other female passengers to the hospital.

State police say the crash happened around 5 p.m. Thursday on Route 24 northbound. Police say when they arrived, they found that the girl, 12, and an adult woman had been ejected from the vehicle when it rolled over.

Another adult woman, found inside the vehicle, was also injured. One adult woman is at Boston Medical Center, and is listed in good condition. The other adult woman is at Mass. General, and her condition is unknown.

The single vehicle crash shut down both sides of Route 24 for hours during the evening rush hour as reconstruction teams worked to try and piece together what exactly happened.

State police are not releasing the identities of any of the victims involved.
